What is DeMolay?
DeMolay is a youth-led organization for young men between the ages of 12 and 21 who are active, motivated, and eager to take on leadership challenges. Whether planning service projects, enjoying athletic activities, or participating in statewide conventions, DeMolay offers its members an exciting and rewarding experience filled with opportunities for personal growth and fun.
DeMolay is part of DeMolay International, a nonprofit organization founded in 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri. With chapters across the globe, DeMolay is dedicated to preparing today’s young men to become the confident, capable leaders of tomorrow.
What Do DeMolay Members Do?
DeMolay members lead the way. Chapters are run by the young men themselves, allowing them to take charge of planning and executing a wide range of activities. Events can include:
As long as the event follows DeMolay’s guidelines and takes place under the supervision of at least two trained and certified adult male Advisors (known as “Dad” Advisors), the possibilities are nearly endless. DeMolay encourages creativity, teamwork, and leadership in a safe, structured environment.
Where Do DeMolay Chapters Meet?
DeMolay chapters typically meet twice a month at local Masonic lodge buildings provided by the chapter’s Masonic sponsor. Each chapter is supported by an adult Advisory Board, which helps guide and oversee the chapter’s activities while ensuring a positive and safe experience for all members.

From hayrides and beach parties to service projects and leadership workshops, DeMolay combines fun with meaningful growth opportunities. It's a place where you can build lifelong friendships, explore your potential, and make an impact.

Applicants must be sponsored by a current DeMolay member and a Mason; however, no family relation is required.
What Is the Initiation Like?
DeMolay’s initiation is a respectful and meaningful two-part ceremony. The first part introduces the core virtues that guide DeMolay members in their lives. The second is a dramatic portrayal of the final days of Jacques DeMolay, the organization’s namesake, who stood for loyalty, courage, and honor.
There is no hazing, embarrassment, or inappropriate behavior involved. The initiation is a serious and inspiring introduction to the values and brotherhood of DeMolay.
